AWEC Graduation

A Journey of Growth, Learning, and Transformation

For the past 12 months, I have embarked on one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of my entrepreneurial journey—completing the African Women Entrepreneurship Cooperative (AWEC) Mini MBA. This program was far from an easy ride; it stretched me in ways I never imagined, pushed me beyond my comfort zone, and gave me a lifelong community of brilliant women entrepreneurs across Africa.

A Year of Intensive Learning

When I first applied, I had no idea what was coming. Out of 1,700 applicants from 42 countries, only 200 fellows were selected, and I was fortunate to be among them. I initially thought this would be a simple business development course, but I quickly realized it was an MBA-level program with rigorous coursework, strategic business insights, and a strong focus on leadership.

The curriculum covered everything from financial management and business strategy to marketing and leadership development. Each week brought new challenges, assignments, and opportunities to engage with industry experts and business mentors who poured their knowledge into us. The program was so intense that even my family knew how committed I was—it became a part of my daily life!

The Power of Community and Mentorship

One of the most remarkable aspects of AWEC was the network of women I connected with. These were strong, ambitious, and inspiring entrepreneurs from diverse industries, each bringing unique perspectives and experiences. The mentorship I received from my program advisor, Vanessa, and my mentor, Bilen, was invaluable. They guided me through business challenges, helped me refine my strategies, and encouraged me every step of the way.

Beyond the coursework, AWEC fostered a sisterhood—a support system of women who understood the struggles of entrepreneurship and uplifted each other. The connections made during this program are ones I will cherish forever.

The Culmination: Graduation in Botswana

After a year of intense learning and growth, we gathered in Gaborone, Botswana, for the AWEC General Assembly and Graduation Ceremony. This wasn’t just a celebration—it was another opportunity to learn, connect, and be inspired. AWEC maintained its reputation for excellence, ensuring we continued to gain insights and expand our networks.

Walking across that stage, I felt an overwhelming sense of accomplishment and gratitude. I had completed one of the most demanding programs of my career, and I emerged stronger, wiser, and more confident in my ability to scale my business.

What’s Next?

This is just the beginning! Armed with new knowledge, strategies, and an incredible network, I am more determined than ever to grow my business, empower other women entrepreneurs, and drive impact in my industry.

To every woman entrepreneur out there—if you ever get the chance to be part of AWEC, take it. It will challenge you, stretch you, and transform you in ways you never imagined. Here’s to growth, resilience, and the power of women in business!
